A famous Pakistani stuntman, Sultan Mohammad Golden, is in the middle of a legal battle in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province after he allegedly married a minor girl who is around 12 years old as per her school records. However, her father and he claim that she is above 18 years of age.

The little girl who has been allegedly married to Sultan Muhammad Golden
In 2002, Sultan Mohammad Golden had met a boy, who was about 8 years old, in Dubai. The boy later identified as Muhammad Iqbal, lived with Sultan in UAE, according to the girl’s father and the boy’s uncle, Sher Jan Durrani.
However, upon hearing the details of the girl’s age, Sultan was reportedly worried and went to the UAE to get her papers corrected, reported Dawn.
What happened?
A Mardan family has claimed that they got registered their minor child with the CBSE board in 2015 with an age of 17, and that the girl did her Class X examination in 2018.
After getting a passport made on her name in 2016, she joined a local school. Later, her parents revealed her age to the school authorities and enrolled her in a local school in Mardan.
What about the boy?
She was in the sixth class when they got married as per their respective ages, but now the boy is behind bars after being booked under the child marriage law. He is in the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
The girl’s father has alleged that his daughter is 17 years old as she enrolled in a local school in Mardan in 2015.
What's the law in Pakistan?
The girl’s father told reporters that she was studying in a government school in Peshawar and her age was found to be 16-year-old on the school records. But now her school teachers said her age was 12-year-old, reported Dawn News.
On the basis of this new information, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection Bureau, the high court’s additional district and sessions judge and the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority have all issued warrants for the arrest of Sultan Mohammad Golden.
Speaking to Dawn News, Sultan Mohammad Golden said he had married the girl four years ago.
“I took her (the girl) to a neighbouring village, brought her home and she did not leave my house. She even accompanied me to work on the fields,” he said.
How are other countries dealing with the same issue?
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province has come under global focus for violence and related child abuse cases, and child marriages in particular. Reports on human rights violations in the province have been regularly aired on international media and in social networking sites, especially in July 2017, when Pakistan Army killed eight school children and injured more than 20 others.
